Mother Reports Assault By Son
A Lawrence County man was jailed Tuesday evening after his mother reported he had assaulted her inside her home.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched to a home on Big Springs Fork shortly after 6:00 p.m.
The female resident, age 60, reported she had been lying on the bed in her bedroom, talking on the telephone, when her son entered and began to yell and curse.
She told deputies that he jumped onto the bed and began punching her in the back and body. He then began striking her in the face.
She told deputies that during the assault he removed the top of her vacuum cleaner handle and began to strike her with it, as well. All the while, the woman said her son was making threats to kill her.
The victim reported that, after escaping the assault, she fled to a neighbor’s house to call for help.
Dewayne Allen Minor, age 35, of 594 Big Springs Fork was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was incarcerated under charges of aggravated domestic assault with bond set at $1,000.
Minor is scheduled to answer the charges against him in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 5, 2013.
Deputies report that the victim sustained no serious injuries as a result of the attack.
